"...Hmm, I guess you might be right about that."

"How about this butler outfit? You'd look absolutely amazing in it! And I could be an adorable maid!"

"For the last time, the answer is no...I'm going in something homemade."

"What you picked out is barely homemade! It's literally just a suit and a dress jacket! Cmon, have some variety, Kellyn!"

"...Let me think about this." Kellyn Long walked through the aisles of the costume shop and to the back where the changing rooms were. He found a bench just outside one of the stalls and sat down to contemplate what exactly was going on. He'd been roped into participating in a cosplay dance ahead of a convention by Kate, a friend of his. Kate Jones, who was known for being extremely boisterous, was frequently trying to drag Kellyn into things. This time, however, Kate had asked Kellyn while he had been sky-high on pot after losing a bet with another one of his friends, and Kellyn, not in a standard mental state, had accepted. He wasn't one to break a promise, so he was still planning on going, but only in a simple homemade costume. Kate didn't really approve of this.

"I...really don't want to do this...", Kellyn thought to himself, "Honestly, why is she so obsessed with me anyway?" Kellyn was a dense fellow, to say the least. He was so dense that he didn't mention a door in the corner of the changing room that seemed to be ajar to either the manager or to Kate.

Kellyn, besides being extremely oblivious, was a somewhat quiet person who only ever spoke to cheer someone up. He'd met Kate at school a few months earlier. Kate had just moved to the area and was sitting by herself at lunch when Kellyn sat down with her and struck up a conversation. Ever since the two had been friends, but Kellyn was completely unaware of the level of Kate's devotion.

"HEY! KELLYN! I FOUND A SWEET COSTUME FOR YOU!", Kate yelled from the dealing floor, "COME TAKE A LOOK AT IT!" Kellyn sighed and stood up. When was she going to understand that he wasn't interested in doing this all? And if they were going to do this, why did it have to be at this shop? There had been rumors of weird stuff happening at the shop for years, though the rumors could never agree on what the somewhat-older manager was really doing. There were the standard devil worship and cult whispers, along with some rumors so weird that Kellyn didn't bother remembering them.

"All right..." Kellyn reluctantly left the changing area and returned to the dealing floor, only to be greeted by Kate pointing towards a cosplay of Laslow from Fire Emblem Fates. lul It was a highly-detailed cosplay, and looked like it would fit Kellyn perfectly. Even still, Kellyn just wasn't interested in doing this all.

"So, what do you think, Kellyn? I could be Selena.", she said, pointing towards a Selena costume that was equally as well-crafted, "We would be pretty incredible, yknow? And besides, they are putting on a cosplay contest, and they are offering a good bit of money for the winner. I think like...a couple hundred? Maybe a thousand? I think it's a thousand. Or maybe two...or three."

"Kate...can I tell you something? I really don't want to do-" Before Kellyn could finish his thought, he was interrupted.

"No, you don't want that? Okay, well let's see..." Kate started walking down the aisle between all the costumes, away from Kellyn. "How about Minato and Minako Arisato from Persona 3? Or the Vocaloids Len and Rin Kagamine, we"ll be like kindred...that felt weird to say." Kate suddenly paused for a bit and just stared straight ahead for a couple of seconds.

    "What is it?"

"Monica and Riley? Where the hell are these two from? And who ARE these people? This is really weird." Kellyn didn't even want to know what the costumes looked like. After a couple more seconds, Kate kept looking. "Anyway, uh...wow, these are BEAUTIFUL Hikage and Katsuragi costumes..." Kellyn had played his fair share of games, and yet had no clue who Hikage or Katsuragi were.

    "Who?", he asked, genuinely curious.

"Hikage and Katsuragi...", Kate said, turning back towards Kellyn, "They come from Senran Kagura. Hikage's a former gang member and Katsuragi...actually, I have no idea what Katsuragi's deal is, but they're rivals. Alas, I know you'd probably never crossplay, so I won't even try to persuade you." Kate went back to looking.

"Uh, Kate..." Kellyn had hoped that somehow showing a small bit of interest would make Kate stop what she was doing, but of course, that didn't work.

"...We could be Corrin and Camilla from Fates, or we could be Azura and Shigure...whole lotta Fates cosplays...or we could be Ruby and Jaune, THE FORBIDDEN PAIRING..." Kate made a big deal about this statement, but when there was no response from Kellyn, she continued onwards. "Or we could be a Skull and a Witch from Disgaea, or we could-"

"Kate. Please. Stop. I would like to just wear that simple costume that I threw together, okay?" Kellyn got up and headed to the changing area, with Kate following close behind. In the meantime, the manager left his office and noticed that neither were still on the floor. Despite it not being very late, he was extremely tired, and out of exhaustion assumed that Kellyn and Kate had left. He began to close up shop at once.

"Kellyn, come on, don't be such a pushover...", Kate said as soon as she entered the changing area, "I'd like to have some fun, just you and me, because that's what-" This time, it was Kellyn doing the interrupting.

"Kate. I'm simply not very interested in cosplay, I'm sorry. You're a good friend of mine, but I just don't like the same things you do, okay? It seems like a fun hobby, but I'm just not interested. I had lost a bet and had to get really high and do...uh, things you don't need to know, and you just happened to ask me while I was above the clouds. I'm only still going because I don't like to break promises. All right?" Kate stared into Kellyn's brown eyes. He seemed like he wasn't going to change his mind anytime too soon.

"I see. Well, if you're that deadset, then there's nothing I can do, I suppose.", Kate said, disappointedly. She began to walk out, but for whatever reason stopped and turned the lights to the changing area off.

"What did you do that for? I mean, leave that to the manager, Kate." Kate shrugged. She felt like flashing a thumbs up a la Konata, and probably would have if she had been in a good mood.

"To save the poor guy some trouble." In reality, Kate had no idea why she'd done this, but didn't want Kellyn to know this. "Moving along, I guess we should probably leave. I do have to say, though, you are one dense motherfu-"

*click* The pair froze. The manager had locked the door to the changing rooms. The door was locked from both sides, meaning that without a key, the two were stuck. They immediately darted towards the door and began banging on it, but somehow the manager didn't hear it. He strolled on out of the store. Kellyn and Kate had walked there, so there was no car to show their presence. There wasn't much either could do.

"Call 911 and let them know that we're stuck here!", Kellyn ordered, completely and utterly panic-stricken. Kate shook her head. Through the darkness Kellyn could tell that she was ready to cry.

"My cell phone's out of power!" The second he heard this, Kellyn wanted to throw up. His phone was out in the showroom, charging in a charge station. They really were stuck in a changing area at a bleedin" costume shop. Even worse, as it was a Friday, the manager had cut the breaker when he had left. Not only did they have to endure till Monday, but they'd have to do it in the dark.

"Well, now what?", Kellyn asked. Kate shook her head, but while doing so noticed the door that Kellyn hadn't bothered pointing out, just barely visible in the pitch-black.

"Wha? I...I've never noticed that door before. How long has it been there?" Kellyn shrugged. The two stared at each other in the dark, barely able to see much more than each other's eyes, and after an awkward few moments, they both gave each other a nod. The pair of "lovebirds" inched their way down past the changing area stalls, careful as to not run into anything, until they got to the door. Kellyn put his hand on the handle and was surprised to find it unlocked.

    "...That's a surprise..."

"Didn't anticipate that either, Kate...well, let's head on in."

***

The room was lit and was of average size, about half the size of the show floor. There was nothing in it except for two small white marble pedestals, where what seemed to be a witch's hat and a headband sat. Scratching her head, Kate approached the headband and simply scanned it for a couple of seconds without picking it up. She knew something had to be unique about these two items. Why else would they be on their own here?

"Why are these on their own? That's really...huh." Kate turned around and did a "come here" motion with her hand. "Kellyn, I want you to try something." Kellyn really didn't want to do this. He knew Kate wanted him to put the hat on. He honestly expected her to whip her phone out, take a photo, and reveal that the whole "locked inside a store for two days" scenario was just a prank, bro. However, Kate had never been a prankster before, and Kellyn knew that with sixty hours to kill before rescue, he might as well, if only to shut her up for a few seconds. Reluctantly, he walked up to the pedestals. "Throw on the hat, I want to see what's so special about it that it would be on its own, like if it's made of a special material or something."

"Well, all right, fine..." Kellyn removed the witch's hat from the pedestal and put it on his head. He waited a few seconds, but couldn't feel anything different about it. It just seemed like a normal witch's hat. It wasn't made of anything unique.

"No, it's nothing out of the ordinary." Kate was disappointed, but at the same time wasn't very surprised.

"Didn't think it would be. I guess it would be a bit redundant to check the headband, but there's no harm in trying." The moment she threw the headband on, Kate began to feel something bizarre, and within a few moments, so did Kellyn. As it turned out, this shop's owner, an older man, had been working for many years on a costume that could actually transform its wearer. He'd only recently completed it, but had carelessly left the room they were stored in unlocked on the worst possible night, when two foolish teens tried them on. And now, Kellyn and Kate were about to experience the fruits of his research first-hand.

***

Kellyn's shoes split wide open and the arch to his foot rose upwards a few millimeters. They then rewrapped themselves like paper to his heels, the bottom of his feet, and to his toes as to simulate high heels, doing so with enough force to shrink his feet slightly. A strap stretched itself over to the back of his new shoes.

Next up were the legs. His jeans crushed inwards on his skin, destroying all of his extra skin and hair as per the usual and shrinking the legs to a more slender and smooth shape more resembling a young woman"s. Kellyn then felt something he'd never felt before. It honestly felt like his heart had dropped to his cock. With each heartbeat came a new wave of throbbing pain, but at the same time a bizarre ecstasy, both of which only multiplied in intensity with each beat. Within a few seconds, Kellyn was sure he was about to lose it. He stumbled back a couple of feet, still facing the pedestal.

"OHHHHH HELL NO! OH GODDAMMIT NO! OHHH...", Kellyn murmurred in what was almost a moan. He wasn't sure what was even happening, though it was pretty obvious in retrospect: his junk was disappearing. His jeans were squeezing inwards at the top, but also felt like they were going to rip themselves in two at the pant legs. It was...bizarre, to say the least. He felt his hips shift outwards and lock themselves into a more symmetrical position with a disturbing crack. At the same time, his jeans actually exploded, raining fabric down everywhere. It also revealed that Kellyn's underwear had changed into a set of pantyhosen. Kellyn didn't care, though. He was just happy that the ecstacy had passed when his jeans exploded. Still unbeknownst to him, his cock had been replaced by a vagina, and his inner organs had reworked themselves as to accommodate for this.

Kellyn had been wearing a simple long sleeve shirt, which split in half with a loud rip and fell off his body. The halves then proceeded to divide themselves into further halves, then those halves split in two, and then those halves did the same, until there were hundreds of bits of cloth on the ground. After a quick delay, the scraps began to rise on their own. They clumped themselves together right in front of a speechless Kellyn, and formed what seemed to be a bra, lace included. The bra literally floated towards Kellyn's chest and placed itself over his breasts, lacing itself around his back and even tying its own knot. Almost on cue, Kellyn's chest began to expand and his waist began to crush inwards, with any hair he hadn't already lost on his chest and back simply falling off. With this came a feeling of breathlessness that persisted for awhile.

The remaining pieces of the shirt, apparently not wanting to go to waste, also rose up from the ground, as did the bits of his jeans. They floated gently in the air, hovering up and down a little bit, and then slammed straight into Kellyn's bust. His white shirt turned orange on contact with his skin, and with each hit, any imperfections that hadn't already been ridden of were destroyed. The pieces also wrapped around and slammed into his back, curving his spine a little and doing the same thing as it did to the front. The bits of the shirt formed a strapped dress that stretched from just above the breasts to just below the pantyhosen. The straps rose from the upper hem and curved themselves over the shoulders to the other side. Most of the dress was a sort of orange leather, though at the very bottom the leather hem was hidden from view by a black fleece that seemed to have been formed from Kellyn's old body hair in the meantime.

The rest of the body hair clumped together, this time in eyeshot, and formed the same sort of fleece again. They attached themselves to the dress just below the breastline, and also wrapped themselves around the lower arms as sorts of sleeves. They were very soft and not very thick.

To wrap things up, Kellyn's eyes flickered yellow briefly, then again, and then again. It did this with increasing frequency until the eyes stayed yellow for good. His shoulders snapped forward, his Adam's Apple receded inwards until it had vanished completely, and all the hair he had on his chin fell to the ground. Kellyn was a little short, so there was no need to fix his height. His face crunched inwards slightly, most of his eyebrow hair fell off, and the hair on his head did the same flickering thing as his eyes had done, except it turned green. Two objects shot from the sides of the pedestal and rotated several times until they slid themselves into Kellyn's grip. They appeared to be knives of some sort, possibly a butcher's pair. At last, everything was over, and Kellyn was able to breathe normally again.

***

"...What just..." Kellyn shut 'his' mouth, noticing that 'he' had begun speaking in a fairly deep, yet clearly feminine voice. 'He' turned towards Kate, only to find that Kate was no longer standing there. In Kate's place was a blonde haired girl. Her eyes were closed, so Kellyn couldn't tell what this girl's eye color was, but she was a fairly well built girl with an absolutely massive set of jugs. As for clothing, she was wearing what appeared to be a school uniform with all the front buttons undone. It still had the tie, meaning that the tie was swinging over her partially exposed chest like a pendulum. She didn't have a bra, meaning a wrong move could easily shift the dress shirt over in one direction and fully expose the opposite breast. Her skirt was also quite frilly and appeared to be used of extremely light material, and it seemed like the slightest breeze would send it flying all over the place. Her shoes were golden with blue laces, but they seemed almost cleat-like. They were elevated shoes with metal undersides, clearly made for kicking the everloving fuck out of something.

Kate finally opened her eyes, revealing them to be blue, and looked up at each other. They simply stared for quite awhile. Somehow, the costume accessories had worked wonders on them, and they'd become carbon copies of Hikage and Katsuragi from Senran Kagura.

"...Oh my goodness...", Kellyn said when 'he' finally spoke, "What the hell just happened to us? This is..."

"I don't know, Kellyn...", said Kate, whose voice had jumped an octave or two, "I put it on and then it was a weird tingly feeling and..." Kate shook her head. "I dunno...my bust is larger, I"ve lost my bra, my skirt looks like it would tear with a slight tug, my feet are absolutely killing me..." Just then, Kate realized something. She immediately went quiet.

    "What is it, Kate?"

"I think those were Katsuragi and Hikage accessories...", Kate said, glancing upwards to see if her headband was still on. It was, though just barely visible through her peripheral vision. "Which means..." Kate began staring straight towards Kellyn's witch's hat. Her gaze then shifted down to 'his' breasts.

    "Yes?", Kellyn asked.

"...You're a girl now..." Upon hearing this, a chill ran down Kellyn's back. 'he' felt like he was about to faint, and in fact almost did. 'he' had no idea how to respond to this. How would the people outside react to his new look?

"...I...don't know anymore..." The two just stared at one another for another while longer before realizing something. They still had to get out of the store. Slowly, the two walked out of the room, both having to adjust to their new center of gravity. They entered the changing area and approached the locked door. Using the light from the side room (how it stayed lit despite the breaker being cut, they had no idea), Kate looked down at her feet, then at the door, which was made of heavily reinforced wood. She wound up a side kick, but just before she thrust forward, she was stopped by Kellyn.

"...We"ll be accused of vandalism. Let's find another way if at all possible." The two thought for a bit, and then had an idea. They ran over to the pedestals and slowly walked one out to the changing room. Kellyn then threw open all of the stalls" curtains to see if any had an air duct. One of the stalls closest to the side room did, so the duo hoisted the pedestal up and into the stall, where they set it down. Kellyn climbed the bench, removed the witch's hat, hopped atop the pedestal, and began working on the grate by using 'his' knives as screwdrivers-

"OH.", Kate exclaimed loudly. Kellyn was startled and ended up tipping the pedestal over, riding it straight down onto 'his' rear, just barely missing stabbing "himself" in the back. "Oh, I'm sorry...I just thought that maybe if we removed the props, we'd return to normal, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Well anyway..." Kate lifted the pedestal back up and Kellyn hopped back atop the pedestal to finish unscrewing the grate. Eventually, it came off, and Kellyn removed 'his' witch's hat to fit through the air duct. Kate followed, and the duo crawled through the cramped duct for a couple of yards until finding another grate which led to the showroom. Again, Kellyn's knives did the trick, and they dropped to the ground. Kate landed on her feet, her metal-plated shoes taking much of the impact. Kellyn...not so much.

    "You okay?"

"Yeah...I'm fine." Kellyn got back to 'his' feet and walked over to where 'his' phone had been. It wasn't charging any longer, as the circuit breaker had been cut, but it did still have some power left in it. Out of curiosity, Kellyn checked 'his' messages, and was stunned by what 'he' saw.

"...My name in my phone is Kelly!?..." Before Kate could even run over to see for herself, the pair heard the door click open. It was the manager, returning to get something with a flashlight in his hand. Kate hid underneath one of the display shelves, and Kelly switched her phone off and just hoped she hadn't been seen. Thankfully the manager was as oblivious as he was absent-minded, and didn't notice the pair nor the fallen vent cover. When he'd returned to his office, Kate hopped up, grabbed a random costume, and ran towards the door. She caught it just a millisecond before it automatically locked again, and, without a word, both she and Kelly headed out onto the sidewalk.

The pair immediately turned towards home and started walking towards the apartment complex in which they both lived without a word, at least until about the halfway point, when Kelly opened her mouth.

"...Do you think this is permanent?", she asked Kate.

"I do believe so. I"m...really sorry, Kellyn...er, Kelly." Kelly shook her head.

"I'm actually not angry, Kate. I'm not sure why, but I'm...not angry..." At that moment, Kelly noticed that Kate was holding something. "Hmm? What do you have?"

"Hikage's regular outfit, just in case. And uh...I just noticed that you're holding two knives in your hand, so we should probably hurry home before a cop spots us..."

Some time later...

"I'm back!" Kate spun around to see Kelly rushing back from a photoshoot. She was smiling, and seemed to have enjoyed herself.

    "Hey, Kelly! How'd it go?"

"Went well! They had me sitting on a giant pumpkin on a Halloween backdrop with several different kinds of sweets and candies. Some of them were even real..."

"Shhhh! They're gonna announce the winners of the cosplay dance!", said someone behind them. The two looked forward towards the stage, nervously awaiting the results. They had put in many hours of practice for the dance, which had taken place earlier that day, and were confident that they'd win.

"All righty!", said the announcer, "So I have the winner of the dance in this envelope. Remember, many different factors were used to determine the winner, such as..." At this point, Kelly zoned out. She'd been having so much fun since adopting her new appearance a few weeks prior, and had finally realized that Kate's haggling was actually a sign of affection. It took an unexpected event for her to realize this, but at least she did now. All in all, Kellyn didn't mind her new look at all. In fact, she quite liked it, and despite still being unsure exactly how that manager had been able to create transforming props, she didn't want to return to how she was beforehand.

"The winner...would be Hikage and Katsuragi from Senran Kagura, but the prize of ten thousand bucks is instead going towards repairs to my father's costume shop, which you two idiots damaged!" Kelly and Kate looked at each other straight in the eyes. They were shocked and appalled at first, but soon, shit-eating grins began to appear on their faces. More opportunities to both make money and have fun were on the horizon, after all...

Metal doesn't take blunt impacts very well
